FAMILY CENTER INFORMATION

Park Parthenia Apartments, in collaboration with the Child and Family Guidance Center has on site, a Family Center providing a wide-rang of services to our community. One of the most successful and renowned programs has been ESL (English as a Second Language) and Citizenship classes offered at the Community Family center located within the Park Parthenia community.
A bilingual staff of over 15 at the Community Family Center, offers our residents a comprehensive array of social services including: individual/family/group mental health services, in-home services, parenting classes, case management, information and referral, a Toy Loan Library, Healthy Families Program, aerobics, In-home instruction for toddlers, tutoring, a computer lab, preventive health instruction and school readiness for preschoolers. All of these exciting educational classes are available to you and your family while living at Park Parthenia. These services include:Northridge Apartments for lease

Other Services

In collaboration with other agencies, the Center offers Flu Shots, TB-Tests, HIV Screenings, Mammogram Screenings, translations, tutoring, toy distribution, Thanksgiving baskets to needy families, and makes necessary referrals for children and families on a yearly basis. Assistance is also provided in completing forms related to Cal-Works, the Housing Section 8 Program, child support, school documents, and restraining orders.

1 School Readiness Initiative Program (SRI)Northridge apartments special free rent

Engages families, community members, and educators in the important work of helping children 0-5 years develop the solid foundation necessary to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed. Builds upon existing early childhood development programs and services by integrating multiple services (i.e., in-home instruction, mommy & me kinder camp, literacy and art groups) and promotes optimal development. Strengthens families so that they can provide for their children's physical, mental, and emotional growth, and increases school readiness skills to not only prepare children 0-5 and parents for school, but also prepare schools for children and parents through an interdisciplinary approach.

2 In Home Instruction Program (IHIP)Northridge apartments move in special

Offers bi-monthly in-home visits with a bilingual teacher for the duration of 6 months per group. Emphasizes the importance of parents? role as their child?s first teacher, promotes parental involvement to improve student achievement, reduce absenteeism, improve behavior, and restore confidence among parents once their children begin schooling. Empower parents to become active advocates for their children's education, health, and safety needs to ultimately improve the overall heath of the child and the family.

3 In Home Behavioral Intervention Program (IBIP)

An intensive in-home behavioral/mental health program aimed to decrease behavioral excesses demonstrated by children ages 3-5 with mental health issues, temper tantrums, as well as language and developmental milestone delays. This ongoing in-home approach provides the best setting for one-on-one interaction between bilingual teacher, therapist, and child while maintaining a comfortable, familiar environment otherwise.

4 Healthy Families & Medi-Cal Outreach ProgramsNorthridge apartments free rent

Provides extensive outreach, enrollment, utilization, and retention services for all health programs (i.e., Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, Kaiser Permanente, and California Kids) at low or no cost to ensure that children and families receive proper and timely preventive care. Program staff offer health education workshops to educate families on the importance of health coverage for their children, and how to effectively utilize community resources pertaining to preventive health care. Staff broadens these services by partnering with local schools, community-based organizations, parks, and churches to host enrollment events to assist additional children and families each year.

5 Parenting Classes (Spanish)Northridge Apartments family center

Comprised of court-mandated and/or agency referred parenting classes which aim at developing effective parenting skills. Integrates a curriculum to help parents learn how to be consistent and set logical consequences so that children learn how to make good choices. Upon completion of 20 consecutive classes or completion of a designated number of hours ordered by the court, parents receive a certificate.

6 Food Stamps Application Assistance

Contracted by the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), program provides technical assistance to complete applications for food stamps. Individuals applying for food stamps receive a follow up immediately after their application has been completed, submitted, and processed through DPSS.

7 English as a Second Language (ESL)Northridge apartments gated 24 guard

In partnership with the Los Angeles School Unified School District (LAUSD) Reseda Adult School, these educational programs are designed to help language-minority adults develop English proficiency (i.e., reading and writing skills) necessary to pursue further education, enter or advance job market, or enrich their personal and family lives. An early education literacy teacher works simultaneously with children of parents attending these classes.

8 Health Fairs at Park Parthenia Apartments

Park Parthenia Apartments and Child & Family Guidance Center organize two Health Fairs each year. Health Fairs have been held for the past eighteen years providing residents of Park Parthenia Apartments great resources for medical, dental and many other social services.

* Food Stamp Application Assistance
* Medi-Cal and Healthy Families application assistance
* Health Educational Materials
* WIC assistance
Along with fun activities such as: Drawing contest, raffles, food and music.

The Health Fair provides these services to more than 1,000 individuals per year, last year 80 Free Mammograms were provided to uninsured women, all residents of Park Parthenia Apartments enjoy the Health Fair and all the fun.
